Our pipers have years of experience behind them, and a well rehearsed repertoire. They are skilled and flexible, and are often complimented on their playing ability and professionalism.
Don't be Fooled So, how can you tell a reputable piper from a bad one? Well, a few pointers are that they don't disclose their address until you need to send them money, the cheques are always to be made out to them personally (not a company name), they insist on cash or they only ever use a mobile phone number. They also prefer to advertise on sites which protect their anonymity, not giving away any details, or even their full name. If a musician is not forthcoming with information, there's a reason for it. A 'cheap' piper may seem great when you're booking, but be very careful he won't take your money and run, or not bother turning up, if a better offer comes along.
The bagpipes are a living instrument, and require an experienced player in order to tune and maintain them.
We pride ourselves on our reputation of offering a top class service at a reasonable price. If for any reason your allocated piper is ill on the day (it happens!), you don't want your big day ruined by someone not turning up. With Piping Connections, we have a host of excellent pipers we can call upon to make sure everything goes without a hitch.
Our pipers are normally dressed in the standard Number 2 uniform, which consists of the Glengarry (hat), kilt, Argyll jacket, shirt and tie, ghillie brogues (shoes), and a sporran. Normally, the Number 1 uniform is not worn, as this can be quite imposing, and tends to take the focus off the bride. This includes the kilt, tunic, horse hair sporran, spats and diced hose, full plaid with Cairngorm brooch and a feather bonnet. A piper in full Number 1 dress can be provided if required.
